ABOUT US

Evidence Institute is a foundation dedicated to reliable educational research and promoting the best educational practices. We support schools and local governments while developing modern solutions that combine education with the world of IT and research.

Our academic achievements and methodological preparation go hand in hand with practice. We focus on the best solutions. We have extensive international experience, and our staff has been involved in the implementation of the largest educational research in the world – PISA. The experts from Evidence Institute are associated with leading Polish universities and cooperate with research institutions from Europe and the USA.

Our activities are addressed to schools, local governments, companies, and organizations that care about improving the quality of education in Poland.

WHAT WE DO

For years we have been conducting nationwide research on the skills of primary and secondary school students. Competences for the future is a unique project in which standardized tests are used to assess the knowledge and skills of individuals in relation to the population of students in Poland. The results are anchored in both external exam results and international research. We also carry out the international TICKS survey, in which schools from all over the world can assess the level of their students in relation to PISA. Over 100,000 students have participated in the survey in several countries around the world. The research is conducted on our own online platform with minimal technological requirements and without collecting personal data.

We are the pioneers of educational research using the Discrete Choice Experiment method, which allows us to assess student preferences in a meaningful way. The results provide guidance on how to improve students’ motivation and well-being, as well as to help planning further education and careers. Available on our online platform, the method allows a quick and reliable assessment of key preferences of individuals and entire teams. These analyses are a useful tool for whole schools or students and their parents when choosing an educational path. They are also used by private companies for research and motivation management in teams. Our main clients are local governments and companies, but also individuals seeking for self-diagnosis.

The ranking is a space conducive to education, which aims to indicate the local governments in which the education is at the highest level. It does not always mean the highest scores on external exams, due to the fact that schools and local governments work with students of different potential and face different challenges. The methodology of the ranking takes this into account, and thanks to it, we can indicate places of high quality of teaching, where the efforts of schools, teachers, and local governments bring better results. The ranking encourages discussion on what is behind the highest quality of teaching. It is the quality of education that determines the future opportunities of young inhabitants of districts, as well as the economic and social development of local governments in the future.

Understanding teachers’ attitudes and preferences are crucial for educational success at the school level. Teachers’ preferences must be adequately taken into account when designing and implementing solutions to increase pedagogical motivation, improve the attractiveness of the profession, or while organizing remote teaching. The main aim of this study is to identify factors influencing job satisfaction and to evaluate particular features of this work from the subjective perspective of the teacher. Conclusions from the study allow to improve motivation systems and make the profession more attractive. This does not always involve additional financial outlays.

We can be proud of multiple years of experience in empirical research, conducting analyses of educational data, as well as in the labor market. We share our knowledge during training addressed to researchers and experts in Poland and abroad. We provide data and authorial programs for analysis. During the training, we focus not only on technical aspects but also on using the results in shaping local or national public policies. We teach advanced data analysis (e.g., PISA, TIMSS, PIRLS), and basing on the results, we help to formulate educational policies. Our trainings have been conducted both remotely and during dedicated events in, e.g., Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Lebanon, and Canada.

Randomized research with a control group is the gold standard in medicine, but it is also used more and more often in education and business. Contrary to popular belief, such research is inexpensive and easy to implement but requires proper planning and expertise. We are the authors of the first RCT survey in the area of the labor market in Poland. We are currently conducting several similar studies in the field of education, labor market, and adult training.

We provide consulting services in the field of research planning and its implementation. We offer expert data analysis and reports based on the conclusions. We are the authors of several dozen publications, both national and international, in the field of education, labor market, and public policy.

An important goal of the Foundation’s activity is to popularize effective learning and teaching techniques based on scientific research. We translate texts containing key research guidelines for teachers and students. We conduct workshops and online trainings for schools, local governments, and educational institutions, both in Poland, as well as abroad.

We support public and international institutions in the analysis of data from the education and labor market, as well as in the creation of solutions that strengthen the public policy on research results. We cooperate with the OECD, World Bank, European Commission, UNESCO, global consulting companies and governments from European and Asian countries, as well as the aid organizations.
